About this experience
Be respectfully welcomed into a real Zulu umabo and umembeso wedding celebration in rural KwaZulu-Natal. You will join the bride and groom's families as they exchange gifts, sing, dance and celebrate the joining of two homes. This is not a performance — it is a genuine family celebration where the hosting family has chosen to welcome a small number of guests.
Hosted with warmth by Nomvula Dlamini: “I was born and raised in Eshowe. My family has hosted respectful guests at our celebrations for years — for us, a wedding is a gathering of two families, and our guests become part of that story for a day.”
